Fixed And Removable Prosthesis
Prosthodontics is a dental speciality that focuses on the overall comprehensive health of the entire mouth rather than just one tooth. Prosthodontics includes dental implants, esthetic, cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry, temporomandibular disorders (TMD or TMJ),
When treating a case where our patient needs comprehensive oral care, we have several options if teeth need to be replaced or are missing. Today, we're going to talk about the major differences in prosthodontics when is comes to removable prosthesis and fixed prosthesis.
Removable Prosthesis
Removable prosthesis are often used when patients have missing teeth. Removable prosthesis can include partial dentures or complete dentures and replace either some or all of your teeth.
Fixed Prosthesis
Fixed prostheses are those that are permanent. They include bridges, inlays, onlays, crowns and veneers. Dr. Oettinger and Dr. Sulik use fixed prosthesis when it is necessary to restore one single tooth or multiple teeth. As will removable prosthesis, fixed prosthesis improve the appearance of your smile.
